Karma Yoga Open Ashram - Disputanta, KY

  • Clear Creek Farm & Schoolhouse 1882 Hammonds Fork Road Mount Vernon, KY, 40456 United States (map)

The ashram is open to “inner circle” community members (those who have attended ashram sessions and retreats previously) May 25th through 28th!  This is time and space to simply experience and enjoy living in the community we have shaped and formed over these past 6 years. The schedule is simple, we all pitch in and there is ample space and time for connecting with yourself, with each other and with the land.

During this extended weekend of day to day ashram life, we will integrate a consistent routine of spiritual practices including meditation, yoga asana, and the daily fire puja. On Saturday, there is an opportunity to connect with the larger Clear Creek Schoolhouse Community for the annual “Clear Creek Circle of Life Reunion” Ceremony. And, of course, again on Sunday during the weekly coffee social that begins at 10am. We will decide as a group how to structure our days outside of the regular practices and with regard to the Ceremony day on Saturday. We will have a “closing circle” after breakfast on Sunday which will conclude our ashram program for the weekend. You are welcome to stay for the day on Sunday. (In the registration form there is also a space for you to request arrival and/or departures outside of the Thur-Sun schedule. This can likely be accommodated if you desire to come early or stay a bit longer.)

Our Karma Yoga practice during this extended weekend will focus on helping prepare for the Saturday reunion and ceremony activities.

Daily Schedule:

Thursday @ 4:00pm - Opening Circle/Orientation followed by dinner and puja

Morning practice: 6:30-8am

Breakfast: 9:00am

Karma Yoga on Friday and Saturday: 11-2pm (with a break for lunch or a snack!)

Dinner: 6:00pm

Fire Puja: 7:30pm

Sunday after breakfast: Closing Circle

GIFT ECONOMY: $20 - $60 sliding scale contribution per day is suggested.

There is not a set daily price for staying in ashram during open community ashram sessions, but please be aware that there are costs associated with our being hosted by the farm and for the planning, provisioning and management of ashram retreats and and events.  We depend on those in our community for whom money energy is abundant to slide "up" and help support those for whom sliding "down" is necessary based on limited financial resources.  This type of community support and gift economy allows for more fairness, a greater diversity of participants and a richer experience for all.  Please consider the value for you and choose the fee befitting your personal circumstances. A sliding scale financial contribution of $20-$60 per day is suggested - but you can enter any amount on the donation page Everyone in our community is valued, welcome and encouraged to participate regardless of financial circumstances or ability to contribute money.

Not yet a part of the “Inner Circle”?

Check out our upcoming “Living in Yoga” ashram orientation retreats (June 1-4 and again July 20-23) as well as “Wild Earth Spirit Camp” (June 29-July 22 and again August 31-September 3). These retreats introduce new community members to “ashram life” and to our core practices and agreements. They serve as a doorway to the Play Ashram Inner Circle.
