The Ashram welcomes open hearted & open minded spiritual seekers and nature lovers - regardless of individual spiritual or religious faith or any experience with “yoga”- to join us seasonally as we create and hold sacred space, close to nature, for the purpose of nourishing and recharging ourselves in a healthy, playful, loving, devotional community.

Karma Yoga Open Ashram - Disputanta, KY
The ashram is open to “inner circle” community members (those who have attended ashram sessions and retreats previously) May 25th through 28th! This is time and space to simply be held in the container of our ashram home - to experience and enjoy living in the community we have shaped and formed over these past 6 years. The schedule is simple, we all pitch in and there is ample space and time for connecting with yourself, with each other and with the land. There is support to be found and there are opportunities to serve.
Not a part of the “Inner Circle” - check out our upcoming “Living in Yoga” retreats. These retreats introduce new community members to “ashram life” and to our core practices and agreements. They serve as the doorway to the Play Ashram Inner Circle.

So, what’s a Cuddle Party??
… it’s a consent workshop, followed by the exploration of nurturing, platonic touch.
Though platonic, nurturing touch is natural, the skills that make it welcome and enjoyable have to be learned. Skills of communication, consent and boundaries, asking for what you want, and saying ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ with clarity and kindness.

Join Play Ashram and Clear Creek Schoolhouse for the first in an ongoing series of community building conversations, workshops and events. This week, we begin our journey in the East - home to the element of Air and the space between us - with an introduction to Compassionate Communication.

During this week of day to day ashram life, we will integrate a consistent routine of spiritual practices including meditation, yoga asana, and the daily fire puja. Additionally, we will dive deep into the concept and practice of karma yoga (selfless service) as we work together on the farm.
Enjoy silent mornings, shared meals, and the space and time to connect more deeply with yourself, each other and the land.

Come for a day or two or stay the whole week.

Our yoga classes are taught by one of our experienced ashram yoga instructors, and are designed to deepen your mind-body connection, your interoception (the ability to sense what is happening in your body) and also provide some stress and anxiety relief. $15 donation per class requested or whatever you are able to contribute.

Winter Solstice Devotional Retreat
Please join the Red River Gorge Play Ashram community for this opportunity to pray, celebrate and deepen our relationship with the powerfully transformative element of fire, on the longest day of the year. Offer your worries, your desires, and your experiences of this past year to the fire. Make room for the new year and a new version of yourself and your spiritual journey.
This retreat is simple: chanting, fire, prayer, contemplation and time on the land and with nature for 24 hours. It is designed for those who would welcome unstructured time being alone yet also in community. You may use this time to journal, to create, to practice, to read, to sing, to play in the woods or to just breathe and focus on being yourself.
We will begin on Monday December 20th with a potluck dinner, followed by our opening circle.
We will rise before sunrise on Tuesday December 21st for an asana and meditation practice, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the fire at sunrise. We will be in silence and fasting from the time we awaken until sunset, with regular gatherings at the fire for chanting mantras. We will tend the fire through as much of the night as possible and conclude with a sunrise “closing” of the ceremony on Wednesday December 22nd followed by a potluck
Sleeping arrangements for this retreat will be dormitory style only… shared floor and some bed spaces. There are nearby hotels if you would like to go that route, or you may bring your own tent or car camping set up.
No meals will be provided or organized on Tuesday, for those who would like to fast. You may consider bringing snacks and beverages to support yourself.
